The question is: How do you produce such aromatic delights without having to bake cookies and steep cider all season long? Here are a few ideas.

Candles not only make lovely home decor, they’re also available in a variety of wonderful scents. Create holiday ambience in your home with decorative candles that give off pleasant holiday aromas, from pumpkin to pine.

Air Fresheners

Air filter fresheners are great for dispersing pleasant, long-lasting aromas throughout your home or office. You can fight odor caused by smoke, pets, mildew and cooking, or you can evoke the sensorial nostalgia of holidays past. Simply attach the gel pad containing your favorite scent to your air filter, and you'll have instant whole-home fragrance that lasts for weeks.

Scented Oil Plug-Ins

Scented oil plug-ins are another simple home holiday fragrance solution. Just plug them into outlets in the rooms where you desire. Popular locations include bathrooms, living rooms and other areas where you’ll be entertaining guests. Most scented plug-ins are refillable.

Make Homemade Air Fresheners

Homemade gel air fresheners are perfect holiday gifts that are easy to make. The recipe below can be scaled up to make large batches.

Step 1

Heat 1 cup of distilled water to boiling.

Step 2

Stir in 4 packets of gelatin until dissolved.

Step 3

Remove the mixture from the heat, and stir 1 cup of water.

Step 4

Add 10 to 20 drops of essential oil or concentrated fragrance.

Step 5

Add 2 to 3 drops of food coloring to tint your gel.

Step 6

Add 1 to 2 tablespoons of salt or a splash of vodka to inhibit mold.

Step 7

Pour the mixture into 1 or 2 baby food jars, depending on the size of the jars.

Step 8

Allow the gel to set at room temperature, or place them in the refrigerator to quickset.

Decorate your jars and enjoy!
