Create an attractive color scheme for any indoor space with painted wall stripes. Our easy instructions will show you how to master this technique.
Use this checklist when you go to the store and purchase your items.
Paint the wall with a background color. Let dry.
In the image above, we created a stripe pattern that repeats every 15 in. and consists of a 2-in.-wide white stripe, a 2-in.-wide gray stripe and a 1-in.-wide blue stripe. To create the same pattern, measure 10 in. and 12 in. out from one wall corner and mark where the wall meets the ceiling. For the next set of stripes, measure the repeat distance (15 in.) from the first pair of marks (25 in. and 27 in.). Repeat as you work your way across the wall.
To paint the first set of stripes, follow a level to apply strips of painter’s tape with a 2-in. gap between them. Apply white paint between the tape strips, and remove the tape after the paint dries.
Now measure 2 in. over from the white stripe and mask with painter’s tape. Apply gray paint; let dry and remove the tape.
Next measure 1 in. over from the gray stripe and mask with painter’s tape. Apply blue paint; let dry and remove the tape.
