The Striped Option:

Step 1

Carefully stack terra-cotta pots on top of one another.

Step 2

Once you've found an arrangement you like, hot-glue the pots together; let dry.

Step 3

Paint the pots in a design of your choice; refer to the Materials list to see which colors we used. To achieve our striped design, insert a 3/8" dowel through the drainage holes in the pots. Then turn the stand on its side, propping up the dowel sticking through both ends of the stand so that the pots aren't touching your work surface. Paint a stripe while turning the pots (as if using a lathe) -- this will result in a nice, even line. Repeat with other colors, varying the sizes of the stripes as you go.

Step 4

Hot-glue a saucer to the top of your stand; let dry.

Good to Know

Hot glue dries quickly, so make sure you're happy with the configuration of your pots and saucer before applying it. Also, the pots can't get wet if assembled with hot glue -- the moisture will cause the glue to release.

Step 5

Top with an LED candle or other items.

The Floral Option:

Step 1

Stack terra-cotta pots on top of one another.

Step 2

Hot-glue together; let dry.

Step 3

Hot-glue the joiner biscuits onto the pots in floral patterns; let dry.

Step 4

Paint the pots the color of your choice -- we used Valspar Ultra White -- and let dry.

Step 5

Floral stand

Hot-glue a saucer to the bottom of your stand; let dry. Then you're ready to fill the stand with food, flowers, or other commemorative objects.
