Study the location where you want to add shelving to determine the number of shelves needed. The ones shown here are spaced 12 inches apart.
Shelves are available in shorter and longer sizes you can stack for a tapered look or to suit different spaces.
With the mounting bracket installed partially in the shelf, measure from the mounting holes on the metal bracket to the edge of the wood shelf. Mark a piece of painter’s tape with the shelf edge and mounting hole locations. Then, using a level, apply the tape to a wall where you want the shelf. Repeat for the remaining shelves.
Use an electronic stud finder to determine if any mounting-hole locations are over wall studs. If so, use 2-inch screws to secure the bracket. If not over wall studs, drill holes according to the wall anchor manufacturer’s instructions and insert the anchors. Repeat for the remaining brackets.
Insert the shelves on the wall brackets.
