Sew the Pillows

Step 1

Measure your pillow insert.

Step 2

From a washed and pressed drop cloth, cut the front 1" larger than the pillow form and the back 1" wider and 4" longer than the pillow form.

Step 3

Cut the back into two equal pieces along its width. Where each piece was cut, double-fold and sew 1/4" hems.

Step 4

Lay the two back pieces on the front piece with the hems, facing out, near the center. Sew the pieces together using 1/2" seams. Turn the cover inside out to hide the seams and insert the pillow.

Create the Reflector Pillow

Step 1

Position eight red and one blue reflector in rows of three. Mark with a pencil. Hand sew in place with contrasting thread. On a second pillow cover, repeat with eight blue and one red reflector.

Make a Tire Track Pillow

Step 1

Tape down cloth on a clean, flat surface.

Step 2

Slide tire onto a 1/2" dowel long enough for your hands to rest on either side of the tire.

Step 3

Pour a small amount of black paint into a paint tray. Roll a 4" sponge roller into paint until covered. Then, roll paint onto the entire tread of the tire.

Step 4

Press the tire onto the fabric and roll with even pressure. Roll paint onto the tire again and repeat, crisscrossing stripes until you get the look you like.
