Apply an optional clear finish or paint to the door and let dry. Any finish will make the surface easier to keep clean than bare wood.
Set up the sawhorses parallel to each other with the tops spaced about 60 inches apart.
To help set up the sawhorses parallel to each other, lay the door on the floor next to and parallel with where you’ll set up the desk. Then position the sawhorses using the door edge as a guide.
Rest the door centered on the sawhorses.
If you have a problem with the door sliding out of position, glue and clamp pairs of 3/4-inch square dowels cut 30 inches long to the underside of the door on either side of the sawhorse tops -- the dowels should be spaced about 4 inches apart.
