  • 1" loose-leaf rings from an office-supply store (optional)


  • Quartet 4-pack 12" x 12" cork tiles, #33530
  • Rust-Oleum 12-ounce gloss Sail Blue spray paint

  • For garland: 420' medium-weight cotton twine, #349224

Project Resources


Step 1

Print this star pattern and place on top of a sheet of cork tile. Secure with tape. Note: Several stars can fit on one sheet of cork tile, depending on size.

Step 2

Using a cutting mat or cardboard, metal ruler, and utility knife, carefully cut out the stars. Drill or punch a hole at the top of the star for hanging.

Step 3

Spray-paint each star front and back. This may take two coats. Let dry.

Step 4

To create the star clips: Fit a loose-leaf ring through the hole at the top of each star and attach the ring to the curtain clip. Clip as desired to decorate a beach tent, outdoor umbrella, tablecloth, or whatever surface you'd like. To create a star garland: Feed cotton twine through the star holes and knot in place at desired intervals.
