Instructions

General: Set all nails. Fill nail holes with wood filler and sand flush when dry. Remove excess adhesive from exposed surfaces.

Step 1: Cut all lumber per the Cut List.

Step 2: Place the plywood piece on a flat surface. Arrange the two supports on the headboard back, 2 1/8" in from the sides and with 12" of each support exposed to serve as the legs of the headboard (see illustration). Attach the supports with 2" screws. Turn the assembly over.

Step 3: Using adhesive, attach the flooring planks to the headboard back as shown in illustration.

Step 4: Using 3d nails, attach the edging to the outer edges of the assembly, mitering to fit.

Installing the Headboard

To secure your custom headboards to the bed frames, drill two 1/4" holes on each support. Exact placement of these holes will depend on your individual bed frame. Use carriage bolts, flat washers, and hex nuts to fasten the headboards to the bed frames through the drilled holes and the appropriate openings in the frames.
