We're Building On Our Strong Partnership

Lowe’s is pleased to be expanding its role as national partner with Habitat for Humanity International by providing additional support to Habitat’s work, including:

Gulf Coast Rebuilding

Following Hurricanes Katrina and Rita, in the state of Louisiana alone, 227,000 homes were destroyed or remain uninhabitable.

Lowe’s partnered with Habitat for Humanity International on Operation Home Delivery, Habitat’s long-term Gulf Coast rebuilding plan. Lowe’s began this partnership by donating the building materials needed to construct framing packages in New York City, Burbank, Calif.; and Jackson, Miss. Lowe’s and our partner vendors proudly contributed more than $3 million to support a variety of Habitat’s long-term Gulf Coast rebuilding initiatives. In partnership with both Habitat and the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), Lowe’s and NCAA volunteers framed four Habitat houses in Indianapolis and Knoxville that are bound for hurricane-affected areas in Texas.

First Families Building Homes Across America

Lowe’s and Habitat are pleased to announce the First Families Building Homes Across America program, a two-year initiative in which governors’ spouses will work side-by-side with women volunteers nationwide to build a Habitat house in each U.S. state and the District of Columbia. The week before Mother’s Day, Lowe’s will join first families and volunteers in constructing Women Build homes in Mobile, Ala.; Tucson, Ariz.; San Jose, Calif.; Denver, Col.; Bloomington, Ill.; Detroit, Mich.; Jacksonville, Fla.; Tulsa, Okla.; Pittsburgh, Pa.; Johns Island, S.C.; Knoxville, Tenn.; Washington, D.C.; Salt Lake City, Utah and Little Rock, Ark.

Lowe’s sponsors Habitat builds across the country serving diverse communities and is pleased to partner in new national initiatives such as Home Builders Blitz.

Home Builders Blitz

This June, Lowe’s supports Habitat for Humanity International’s 2006 Home Builders Blitz initiative which calls on 1,000 construction industry professionals in 100 U.S. cities to volunteer to build 500 homes in one week – June 5-9, 2006. Lowe’s will help to build eight homes in Greenville, S.C. Lowe’s professionals from our Commercial Sales team will work alongside community volunteers on the Habitat jobsite during Builders Blitz.
