Cut up two sponges using scissors (we used two different-colored sponges). Cut crosswise into short pieces, about an inch wide. Then cut each piece in half the long way to make a thin strip. You can experiment with cutting the sponges to different length and widths and make different sized balls.
Gather four pieces of each colored sponge together and tie in the middle with twine. Pull the twine tight so that the sponge pieces form into a ball. Knot the twine tight.
Grab a bucket full of water or find a pool. Dunk the sponges in water and throw to a friend for a splashing game of catch.
