Instructions

Step 1

 Use aluminum flashing strips
With a Sharpie pen and scissors, mark and cut out four 2-in-wide strips from each piece of flashing (you should be left with 20 strips). Cut four of these down to 7-in long, four to 6-in, four to 5-in, and four to 4-in.

Step 2

Cut half circles from the aluminum flashing strips
Draw and cut out half circles from one end of each strip, using the ring from the threaded bulb socket of the pendant light fixture as your guide. (Keep this on hand for Step 4.)

Step 3

Glue the aluminum flashing strips together
Measure and mark 1 inch in from the end of each strip (the end with the half circle); fold these ends over at the marks. Then take four same-length strips and glue the half-circle ends together so they form a full circle, as shown below. Repeat with all the sets of same-length strips.

Step 4

Attach the flashing to a pendant light fixture -- start with the 4-in-long set and finish with the 8-in-long set. Slide the center hole of each set of flashing onto the threaded bulb socket, then screw the bulb socket ring back on to secure them in place. Fan out the strips evenly on all four sides.
