Instructions

Step 1

Separate the coffee filters and cut about 30 pieces of wire 3 inches long. Use pliers to bend each piece of wire in half.

Good to Know

Because you’ll use small pieces of wire to make this project, display it out of the reach of young children to avoid a possible choking hazard.

Step 2

Fold a coffee filter in half. Then fold it in half again until it’s a quarter the original size.

Step 3

Pinch the filter at its point, insert a bent wire through the bottom of the filter from the inside, and force the wire into the foam ball.

Step 4

Continue randomly inserting filters held in place with wires until the surface of the ball is covered.

Step 5

Hanging pom-pom with ribbon
Coffee filter pom-poms can hang from a ribbon or be glued to other projects.

Cut a piece of ribbon a little more than twice as long as you’ll need to hang the pom-pom, tie the ends together, and use a bent piece of wire to fasten it to the ball as you did with the coffee filters.
