Unscrew the canning jar lid. Remove the lid insert from the collar.
Tap a small hole into the center of the lid insert with a nail.
Clamp the insert to scrap wood and drill a 1-in hole, using the hole you just punched as a starting point.
For ventilation, drill eight to ten 1/8-in holes around this center hole.
Apply a thick layer of stain to the canning jar with a foam brush; let sit for 15 seconds.
Remove most of the stain with a wiping cloth and let dry. If you don't like the look, wipe the stain off completely and try again.
Unscrew the ring from the threaded bulb socket in the pendant light fixture, then slide on the collar and lid insert. Screw the ring back on and attach the jar. Repeat each step to make a second pendant.
