Project Resources

Instructions

Step 1

Cut the dowel into four 12-inch pieces with clean, straight ends. Use hot glue to attach a dowel plug centered on one end.

Step 2

Download the flags and print them on photo paper. Cut out the flags and glue the halves together from the notched end to about 1/4 inch from the opposite end. Then glue the flags to the ends of the dowels about 1/2 inch from the dowel plugs.

Step 3

Add optional decorations to the flowerpots, such as the rickrack braid shown.

Good to Know

To keep the dowels from absorbing water in the pot, give the flags a dry place to rest. From 1/2-inch or larger PCV pipe, cut pieces 5 inches long for each pot. Use a generous amount of hot glue to anchor the end of the pipe centered on the bottom of the pot and lay a bead of glue around the outside to seal out water. Then drop a flag in the tube.

Step 4

Add water to the bottom of the pots, arrange cut flowers of your choice, and place them on your dining table.

Good to Know

For only a few dollars, buy additional dowels to make flags as party favors or toys to hand out.
