It's all about making the order process simple and rewarding. Your Lowe's In-Store Specialist will ask you a number of questions as you walk through the wide range of custom window options. Your answers will help ensure that your window perfectly fits your lifestyle, budget, and home improvement project.

Are You Replacing, Remodling or Building a New Space?

For replacements or remodeling projects, you'll most likely order a window that matches your existing specifications. New construction will likely offer you a wider range of custom options.

Where Will You Install the Window?

The answer to this question is the most important for your specialist to understand. The placement and orientation of your window will help determine a number of specifications that will impact light, ventilation and energy efficiencies.

What Style Window are You Considering?

Windows have a great influence on your home, and on your day-to-day comfort. They represent both your home's architectural identity and your personal style. Be sure to check out our Window Buying Guide which will explain each of these features in detail.

It's important to note that options and features will vary by manufacturer. County and/or state regulated building codes will also be considered. For example, in a hurricane prone geographical area, a special glaze will be required to deter high wind damage to your windows. Your specialist will go over these with you one by one.

What are Your Window Measurements?

Window Measurement Guide

The size of your window will determine which features and options are available and an accurate measurement will ensure that your window fits properly for maximum energy savings and ease of installation. Remember to take all measurements from inside your home. For window replacement projects, use the smallest measurement to ensure a replacement window will fit inside the existing window frame.

Step 1

Find the width. Measure from the inside of the jamb on one side of the window to the inside of the jamb on the other side of the window. Measure at the  bottom, middle and top of the window. Use the narrowest measurement for the width of your replacement window.

Step 2

Find the height. Measure from the top of the sill to the bottom of the window's head jamb. Measure at the left, middle and right of the window. Use the shortest measurement for the height of your replacement window.
