How-To
Rough cost estimate: $430 (for six place settings)
Decorations: $375
Cheese boards: $35
Tile chargers: $20
Rough time estimate: 2 days
Dress a burlap table runner with live garland and rosemary, red and gold ornaments, gold Ting Tings (decorative sequin picks), cranberry branches and crab apple garland.
Use twelve-inch porcelain tiles as plate chargers.
Each place setting has an ornament filled with rosemary for guests. To make, remove the ornament’s hanger, fill with water (about three quarters full) and add fresh rosemary clippings.
Wrap olive oil bottles with jute twine knotted at each end. Finished with rosemary and name tags, these make perfect party favors for guests.
Good To Know
Affix felt pads to the underside of the tile plate chargers to protect your tabletop from scratches.
Make It: Cheese Board
Step 1: Using a circular saw, cut a 1 x 6 x 6 oak board into six 12-inch-long pieces. (Or, a Lowe’s employee can cut the wood for you.) Sand smooth.
Step 2: Cover your work surface with a drop cloth. Wearing gloves, apply butcher-block oil (or mineral oil) to all sides of each board.
Step 3: Wipe excess oil using a cloth, and allow to dry. Apply two to four coats for best results.
