Creating screen, dressing up your mailbox, and planting flowers in a birdbath are three ways you can add some outdoor architecture to your yard.
Create a Screen
A screen can define an area and add interest to any lawn. If you lack the ground space for planting shrubs or want a less permanent design, consider arranging evergreens in large ceramic planters (#254677). We chose Emerald Green arborvitae, which is a smaller selection reaching up to 15-feet high. The bushy shrubs will provide year-round privacy, and the containers lend visual appeal.Dress Up Your Mailbox
Spend a weekend creating a picket fence-style enclosure for your mailbox. Step-by-step instructions and a materials list. Remember to place your house number (#60470, #60875, #60307) on the outside to make it easily visible to your friends and mail carrier. A bed of seasonal blooms around the base of the box completes the look.Plant Flowers in a Birdbath
Add height to your landscape by planting your favorite perennials in a sturdy concrete birdbath (#10011, #10014 - availability varies by market). Using a masonry bit, drill at least two drainage holes in the bottom of the birdbath’s bowl. Make sure that the pedestal will not block the holes. Set mounding or tall plants in the center, and surround them with trailing plants around the edges.Tools, products, materials, techniques, building codes and local regulations change; therefore, Lowe's assumes no liability for omissions, errors or the outcome of any project.
