General Instructions

Cut and label the parts as needed, using the Cut List and Cutting Diagram as guides and adjusting for fit.

Build The Trellis Frame

Note: The parts in this step are ripped from 1 x 6 stock.

a. Miter cut one end of each (01) back stile to create a point as shown in Figure 1.

b. Position one (02) back rail flush with the top ends of the (01) back stiles, and attach with pocket hole screws.

c. Position the lower (02) back rail 69-1/2 inches from the top of the upper (02) back rail, and attach to the (01) back stiles with pocket hole screws.

d. Apply stain to the frame, and allow to dry.

Prepare the Remesh

a. Cut a piece of remesh to 72 inches long using a jigsaw (with a metal-cutting blade) or wire cutters.

b. Clean the remesh with a wire brush and paint thinner, and allow to dry.

c. Apply spray primer and spray paint to the remesh, allowing each coat to dry.

d. Position the frame created in Step 1 on a flat work surface, and temporarily attach the remesh with painter’s tape.

Attach the Remaining Framework

Note: The parts in this step are ripped from 1 x 6 stock. Apply stain and allow it to dry before assembling each part in this step.

a. Position the upper (03) front rail flush with the top and sides of the frame, and attach with 1-5/8-inch screws.

b. Position the two (04) front stiles flush with the sides of the frame and butted against the upper (03) front rail, and attach with 1-5/8-inch screws.

c. Position the lower (03) front rail flush with the (02) back rail and butted against the lower ends of the (04) front stiles, and attach with 1-5/8-inch screws.

d. Miter cut one end of each (05) stake to create a point. Using 1-5/8-inch screws, attach the (05) stakes to the lower portions of the (01) back stiles as shown in Figure 1.

Apply Finishing Touches

a. Touch up parts with stain or paint.

b. Drive the trellis into the ground with a rubber mallet.

Note: Additional stakes may be needed for support depending on your soil type. Attach the stakes to the trellis with 2-1/4-inch screws.
