Traditional Touches
Pair reds and golds with a fragrant fresh-cut Christmas tree and add personalized decorations.

1. Count down to Christmas Day with Advent calendar ornaments. To make, cut craft wood into 3½-inch squares; drill holes in the top of each square. Sand, prime, paint as desired, and add numbers. Using 18-gauge wire, hang an ornament on the tree for each day in Advent.
2. Make a personalized photo ornament. First, paint a wooden wall plate as desired. Then use double-sided tape to secure a photo to the back. Hang with jute twine, wire or ribbon.
3. Mix and match stockings to continue the color scheme. Decorate a paint can with green or red electrical tape. To leave a snack for Santa’s reindeer, line the can with wax paper, and fill with trail mix.
4. Turn a ceiling medallion into a unique tree topper. To secure, wrap 19-gauge wire through the center hole and around the medallion. Use wire to secure to the tree.
Glitz and Glam
Start with a faux white Christmas tree, and then add bright, punchy colors and shimmery accents for a whimsical look.
1. Apply silver spray paint to dress up a ball wreath. Allow to dry, and add additional coats as needed.
2. No mantel? No problem. Hang a stocking on a door handle, and accent it with silver Ting Tings (decorative sequin picks).
3. Jazz up ball ornaments with color. First, cover the ornaments’ hangers with painter’s tape, and then apply spray paint. Allow to dry. Add sparkle by wrapping cut pieces of sequin Ting Tings around the hangers.
4. Use prisms, found in the fashion lighting department, for extra shimmer.
Embellish your holiday gifts with ornaments and sequin Ting Tings. You also can use paint-sample chips as colorful gift tags.
