Install a Medicine Cabinet

Save Space With a Medicine Cabinet
Step 1
Get a helper to hold the cabinet against the wall where it will be hung. Mark the bottom and top of the cabinet on the wall. If you want to center the cabinet over the sink, measure straight up from the center of the faucet. Use a level to adjust for plumb, and mark the line at the point where the top line intersects with the plumb line.
Step 2
Center the cabinet from side to side on the plumb line, and align the top of the cabinet with the top line.
Step 3
Mark the predrilled holes in the cabinet on the wall. You'll need at least one mounting hole in each corner to provide stability.
Step 4
Try to find at least one stud within the marked area. Mark the location of the stud (if available) inside the cabinet. Additional holes may need to be drilled into the cabinet in order to attach the cabinet to a stud.
Step 5
Use wood screws to mount the cabinet to studs. Don't tighten all the way.
Step 6
If studs are unavailable, use toggle bolts to secure the cabinet. Drill holes for toggle bolts. Place a washer on the bolt and insert it through the mounting hole. Thread the toggle nut onto the bolt. Push the toggle nut into the predrilled hole in the wall.
Step 7
Begin tightening all the screws / bolts. Check to make sure the cabinet is level. Completely tighten to secure to the wall.
