This month’s Unwind & Design project offers revitalization and order. While the fresh colors add life to your home, the handy pre-cut cork mats display important information and daily reminders. You can personalize the circles to fit your needs.
Step-by-Step
Rough Cost Estimate: $23 per board (Based on a six-person party. Does not include applicable taxes, which vary by market, or the cost of tools and reusable supplies.)
Rough Time Estimate: 30 minutes, not including drying time
Step 1: Lightly sand the plywood using fine-grit sandpaper. Prime and paint the plywood and cork mats, allowing each coat to dry.
Step 2: Determine the desired arrangement of the cork mats on the board. Following the manufacturer’s instructions, use Gorilla Glue to secure the cork mats in place. (Dampen the surface prior to gluing.) Attach the self-leveling picture hanger to the back of the board.
Step 3:Download and print icons. Cut them out and pin to the cork circles.
Tip: For extra durability, print the icons on card-stock paper.
Good to Know: Add whimsy to your design by choosing a variety of sizes for your cork mats.
