- Follow all safety instructions provided with the ramp kit.
- Always wear a dust mask and goggles when cutting treated lumber.
- Never drive the lawnmower up the ramp. Push or winch the mower up.
- The top of the ramp must be secured in place before use.
- Check ramp boards for serviceability before each use.
- If you will be ramping to surfaces over 24" high, reinforce the ramp boards.
- Do not ramp to surfaces over 36" high.
Determine the Board Length
Measure the height of the ramp (in inches) and multiply by 3.9 to determine the length of the ramp board (in inches). It is important for the ramps to be the correct length, so they will be at the proper angle.
Build the Ramps
1. Cut the board to the proper length.
2. Insert the board into the manufactured top piece and make marks for the bolts that fasten the top piece to the board.
3. Remove the manufactured top piece. Drill holes in the board for the bolts.
4. Bolt the board and top piece together. Ensure that the head of the bolt is on the top side of the ramp.
5. If your ramp kit has pads for the top piece, install them at this time.
6. Repeat steps 1-5 on the second ramp.
7. Paint the boards with non-skid paint.
8. Drill holes for the ramp pins, in the surface to which you intend to ramp.
