Find out why they love their carpet, for its beauty and beyond. From its technology to durability to warranties, here's everything you'll need to know about this trusted carpet.

STAINMASTER® Carpet Technology

With the introduction of STAINMASTER® carpet over two decades ago, the carpet industry was revolutionized with a level of stain and soil resistance performance never before available. Since its launch, technology enhancements from fiber engineering to carpet construction have made STAINMASTER® carpet one of today's most durable, easy to clean carpets.

The Anatomy of STAINMASTER® Carpet

First, continuous strands of nylon are formed into yarn. They’re also texturized to increase their bulk and transform straight fibers into kinked or curled fibers. This increases the bulk of the final carpet and makes the twist in yarns more permanent, producing better wear resistance. And because this process creates one continuous strand of fiber, known as BCF (Bulked Continuous Filament), your carpet won’t shed loose fibers like stapled fibers.

Each carpet fiber is then twisted around more fibers to produce a yarn for the carpet pile that is more wear resistant. The twist of the fiber is the way the fiber filaments are spun into yarn, and how the yarn is in turn twisted upon itself. The tighter the twist, the more the carpet will resist changes in appearance and texture.

Next, the fibers are treated with heat to lock in the twist. The result: carpet fibers that won’t easily unravel or crush under heavy foot traffic. The treated fibers are then stitched, or tufted, into the carpet backing. This forms the surface that you walk on. It also comprises the carpet’s density, which describes the amount of pile in the carpet and how close the tufts are to one another.

TIP: Check density by pressing your fingers on the carpet and trying to reach the backing. It will be difficult to reach the backing of a very dense carpet. With the tufts facing outward, bend the carpet into a “U” shape to see how much of the carpet backing shows. The less backing you see, the more dense the carpet.

Beauty and Performance

STAINMASTER® Carpet features the innovative stain and soil technology that defines its name. With a special soil-repelling technology, the carpet fibers actually push dirt and spills away. We know spills happen, but stains don’t have to. That’s why this quality carpet stays clean and fresh and is easy to maintain.

By mimicking the lotus leaf's ability to prevent soil particles from sticking to its surface, STAINMASTER® carpet’s specially-designed LotusFX™ Fiber Shield technology makes it difficult for soil to stick to the carpet fibers.

Plus, most liquid spills bead up on the carpet fiber's surface, making it difficult for them to penetrate. This makes STAINMASTER® Carpet easy to clean because spills stay on the surface of the carpet and are easily dabbed up in seconds. Engineered to retain their original appearance, tufts in this carpet will hold their attractive shape and won't burst, bloom, open, or lose their twist. That's ideal for households with lots of busy little feet.
