Upgrade a Concrete Patio with Pavers

Watch our video to see how to change a boring concrete patio into a beautifully paved space.

Upgrading your Patio

Are you ready to transform that boring concrete slab into a beautiful outdoor space? Get a fresh, clean and updated look using pavers.

If your concrete pad is level and not cracked, there's no need to remove it.  You already have a good foundation. Small cracks can be repaired. To achieve level, fill in low spots and grind down high areas.

Watch our video to see how it's done. Here are the basic steps:

  1. Clean the concrete surface thoroughly
  2. Add paver base to the concrete pad
  3. Add leveling sand (leveling sand's fine-textured particles fill in around the rougher paver base)
  4. Add pavers, except for the outside row
  5. Apply mortar to the base and lay pavers for the louside row (this locks in the entire patio)
  6. Add all-purpose sand or jointing (polymeric) sand to fill in the cracks between pavers
Good to Know

To prevent hazing, follow the manufacturer's directions carefully when using jointing (polymeric) sand.
