Instructions

Paint the Crossing V Pillow

Step 1

 Crossing V painted pillow

Download the Painted Pillow Diagrams. Place a strip of masking tape across the blank side of the pillow cover so that it stretches diagonally from one corner to the other (A). Take two strips of masking tape and place them directly along each side of the first piece of tape (B, C). Remove the first strip to expose the center section of fabric.

Step 2

Lightly dip a 2-in angled paintbrush into the desired paint, making sure the brush contains only a small amount of paint. Gently paint the area of fabric exposed between the two pieces of tape; let dry. Remove all of the tape.

Step 3

Repeat steps 1 and 2 to create a second diagonal line. The lines will form an X and divide the pillow into four sections.

Step 4

Starting at the top left corner of the pillow, place six strips of masking tape inside the triangle formed by the diagonal lines. The tape should run from the edges of the pillow to the intersection of the diagonals at roughly 45-degree angles. (Cut the ends with scissors to form a sharp point.) Remove the middle strips of tape to create a V with the exposed fabric (F, G). Lightly paint the fabric as before. Let dry, then remove all of the tape. Repeat for the right side of the pillow.

Paint the Button Pillow

Step 1

 Painted button pillow

Download the Painted Pillow Diagrams. Place two strips of masking tape (A, B) from the top corners of the pillow cover to the fabric fold over the button, being carful to keep centered.

Step 2

Place two strips of tape (C, D) directly inside of strips A and B.

Step 3

Place two strips of tape (E, F) directly inside of strips C and D and trim the ends to form a sharp point where they overlap.

Step 4

Place two strips of tape (G, H) directly inside of strips E and F and trim the ends to form a sharp point where they overlap.

Step 5

Place two final strips (I, J) directly inside of strips G and H.

Step 6

Remove strips C, D, G, and H. Lightly paint the two exposed sections and the triangle at the top of the pillow with an angled paintbrush. Let dry, then remove all tape.
